New technology dramatically lowers cost
Final Cut Studio (FCS) is set to revolutionise the T.V. post-production market. Now that the capabilities of Apple's production technology are recognised as at least equalling those of traditional technology, the superior cost efficiency of FCS has become the dominant factor. Hogarth has taken advantage of this opportunity by opening London's first large-scale FCS production facility.
Savings versus traditional technology :
1. The hardware and software costs of FCS are dramatically lower.
2. The cost of supporting and upgrading FCS is far lower.
3. The cost of operators/editors is lower because FCS is the new standard in tertiary education.
4. FCS is suited to a workstation environment rather than more expensive edit suites.
Many jobs simply eliminated
The end-to-end file-based workflow means that all the time traditionally spent ingesting tapes can be eliminated. The parallel platform provided by FCS means that work does not have to be moved around the building as it progresses because every workstation can perform every task. And, as all assets are available to all workstations, work can simply proceed in parallel. Final Cut Server also allows native resolution throughout the job so "reconforming" from a lower resolution is eliminated and High Definition becomes a standard service at a standard price.
Normal mpeg charges also eliminated
On top of all the cost-efficiency advantages of Final Cut Studio, the release of Final Cut Server (combined with Hogarth software) provides the basis for an integrated workflow and approvals tool which means that there is no need to charge for producing approval mpegs nor for delivering them. These costs have simply been eliminated from our service.
